The purpose of this study is to examine the use of feelings of anger and sadness in picture books for children written between 2015-2021 and the strategies used by characters in stories to deal decisively with these emotions. Turkish and Turkish translated books containing feelings of anger and sadness from children’s books published in Turkey between 2015-2021 constitute the working group of this study, which was designed as a document analysis under qualitative research designs. Research data were collected using” Book Imprint Form“,” Emotion Investigation Form in Text and Picture“,” Criteria List of Strategies for Dealing with Negative Emotions”. Research results show that in many different publishers, feelings of anger and sadness are included both in the text and in the visual, but more feelings of sadness are addressed. In the books examined, it has been concluded that emotions are mostly dealt with by animal heroes. Indeed, functional coping strategies with feelings of anger and sadness were also included in the picture books for children which are examined in this study.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, 2015-2021 yılları arasında yazılmış resimli çocuk kitaplarında öfke ve üzüntü duygularının kullanımının ve hikâyelerde yer alan karakterlerin bu duygularla baş etmede kullandıkları stratejilerin incelenmesidir. Nitel araştırma desenlerinden doküman analizi kullanılarak kurgulanan araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2015-2021 yılları arasında Türkiye’de yayınlanan çocuk kitaplarında öfke ve üzüntü duygularının yer aldığı Türkçe ve Türkçeye çevrilmiş kitaplar oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri “Kitap Künye Formu”, “Metin ve Resimde Duygu İnceleme Formu”, “Olumsuz Duygularla Başa Çıkma Stratejileri Ölçüt Listesi” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları pek çok farklı yayınevinde öfke ve üzüntü duygusuna hem metinde hem görselde yer verildiğini, fakat daha fazla üzüntü duygusunun ele alındığını göstermektedir. Bununla birlikte, incelenen kitaplarda duyguların büyük çoğunlukla hayvan kahramanlarla ele alındığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca incelenen resimli çocuk kitaplarında ele alınan öfke ve üzüntü duygularıyla işlevsel başa çıkma stratejilerine de yer verildiği görülmüştür.
