The purpose of this study is to investigate how school principals’ display of altruistic leadership behaviors differ according to seevral demographic variables. The study was conducted as a survey model research with a sample of 378 teachers working in public and private primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in the province of Karabük and its districts in the 2020-2021 academic year. The research data were collected through the Alturistic Leadership Scale developed by Zheltoukhova (2016) and adapted into by Konan and Gedik (2019) for educational organizations. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistical measures (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, standard error, variance, frequency and percentage) and t-test and ANOVA were performed. Results revealed that teachers generally showed a positive preception on the altruistic leadership behaviors of school principals. Indeed, the altruistic leadership behaviors of school principals did not differ significantly in terms of several variable such as gender, age, educational status, school type, number of students at school, number of teachers at school and working time at school while significant differences occured according to school level, branch, physical conditions of the school, socio-economic status of the students, and the region where the school is located. Results of the study were discussed and several suggestions were presented.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, okul müdürlerinin özgecil liderlik davranışları sergilemelerinin çeşitli demografik değişkenlere göre nasıl farklılaştığını araştırmaktır. Araştırma, 2020-2021 eğitim öğretim yılında Karabük ili ve ilçelerinde resmi ve özel ilkokul, ortaokul ve liselerde görev yapan 378 öğretmenden oluşan bir örneklem ile tarama modelinde araştırma olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma verileri Zheltoukhova (2016) tarafından geliştirilen ve Konan ve Gedik (2019) tarafından eğitim örgütleri için uyarlanan Alturistik Liderlik Ölçeği aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistiksel ölçümler (aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, standart hata, varyans, frekans ve yüzde) ile t-testi ve ANOVA yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar, öğretmenlerin okul müdürlerinin özgecil liderlik davranışlarına ilişkin genel olarak olumlu bir algı sergilediklerini ortaya koymuştur. Nitekim okul müdürlerinin özgecil liderlik davranışları cinsiyet, yaş, eğitim durumu, okul türü, okuldaki öğrenci sayısı, okuldaki öğretmen sayısı ve okuldaki çalışma süresi gibi çeşitli değişkenler açısından anlamlı farklılık göstermezken, okul düzeyine, branşa, okulun fiziki koşullarına, öğrencilerin sosyo-ekonomik durumuna ve okulun bulunduğu bölgeye göre anlamlı farklılıklar ortaya çıkmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçları tartışılmış ve çeşitli öneriler sunulmuştur.
